The White House coronavirus task force is slated to hold its first news briefing in nearly two months Friday, as new coronavirus cases continue to surge across large parts of the country. Vice President Mike Pence will lead the briefing, according to the Department of Health and Human Services, but the briefing will take place at HHS offices rather than at the White House, where past briefings have been held.

WASHINGTON (Reuters) – Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell said a U.S. economic recovery may stretch deep into next year and a full comeback may depend on a coronavirus vaccine.

Uber to require drivers, riders to wear masks around the world

(Reuters) – Uber Technologies, Inc. (UBER.N) on Wednesday said it will require drivers, delivery workers and riders globally to wear a mask as countries around the world begin easing restrictions aimed at curbing the spread of the coronavirus.

Beginning on Monday, the company will require everyone using its ride-hailing service in the United States, Canada, Mexico, Europe and most Latin American and Asian countries to wear some form of face covering and ask passengers to sit in the back.

The company will also lower the number of passengers allowed on its standard Uber rides to three from four.

Lyft to require passengers and drivers to wear masks

TORONTO/NEW YORK (Reuters) – Lyft (LYFT.O) will require both passengers and drivers to wear masks and complete a health certification program, including confirming before each ride that they are not displaying symptoms associated with the novel coronavirus, the company said on Thursday.
