Tokio Marine Life Singapore reveals C-suite shake-up

Tokio Marine Life Insurance Singapore (TMLS) has named three C-level executives to its senior management team – chief financial officer Edwin Peh, chief operations officer Esmond Chan and chief investment officer Goh Kay Yiong.

Peh joins TMLS from HSBC Life China, where he was chief customer officer & deputy general manager. Prior to this, he was chief financial officer at Prudential Singapore, and held the same role with Manulife-Sinochem in China before that. Peh is a Fellow of the Institute of Actuaries of Australia (FIAA), a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) Charterholder, and holds an MBA from Washington University in St. Louis, USA.

Chan joined TMLS last year as head of insurance operations, holding the position for roughly a year. He spent 27 years with NTUC Income, having held various leadership positions in compliance, life and health insurance operations, distribution middle office, corporate planning and information technology.

Goh has more than 17 years of experience in the financial services industry with roles in equity analysis, fund management and investment products management/advisory. Before joining TMLS as head of investment in 2017, he previously worked at Tokio Marine Asset Management International, Citibank and Bank of Singapore, and started his career as an auditor in Ernst & Young.

According to TMLS chief executive Christopher Teo, the company’s chief risk officer, Philip Woo, will take an expanded scope of responsibility, with regulatory and compliance functions added to his portfolio.

“This announcement is all part of TMLS’s continuing endeavour to strengthen its overall leadership and management bench strength to attain the company’s ambition for a more sustainable growth intent. I truly believe that Edwin, Esmond and Kay Yiong will be valuable assets to the company,” Teo said.
