Allianz has appointed Jon-Paul Jones (pictured) as regional chief operating officer for Asia-Pacific, effective August 31.
Based in Allianz’s regional head office in Singapore, Jones will report to Asia-Pacific regional CEO Solmaz Altin and serve as a member of the company’s regional executive board, a statement from the global insurer said.
In his new position, Jones will be responsible for regional information technology and security, as well as protection & resilience, including P&L oversight of Allianz Digital Services (ADS). He will also have functional oversight of all local market chief operating officers and chief information officers in the Asia-Pacific region.
A veteran of the Asian insurance industry, Jones joins Allianz from AIG, where he most recently served as global chief information officer for AIG Operations, based in Singapore. During his 15 years with AIG, he was based in several Asian markets. Between 2013 and 2016, he was CEO for AIG’s non-life insurance companies in the Philippines and then Indonesia, in addition to leading agency-based insurance sales for Asia. He later led the company’s technology transformation efforts, based in Japan.
Earlier in his career, Jones worked for ING and the UK’s National Grid Company. He graduated from the University of Warwick with a bachelor’s degree in computer science.
