Allianz Partners names new regional CEO for Asia-Pacific

Allianz Partners has appointed Vinay Surana (pictured) to the role of regional chief executive officer for Asia-Pacific, effective March 23, 2020.

Based in Singapore, Surana will lead the Asia Pacific business, which encompasses the regions of Australasia, China, Japan, India, and Southeast Asia. He will report directly to Allianz Partners global head of markets and board member Dan Assouline.

RKH taps Paul O’Neill as Asia-Pacific CEO

RKH Specialty has hired Paul O’Neill as CEO for its Asia-Pacific business, based in Singapore. He succeeds Stuart Beatty, who will move to a new role as head of RKH Reinsurance Brokers APAC.

According to a statement by RKH, O’Neill will join on May 01, and will assume the role of CEO once local regulatory approvals have been obtained.

Swiss Re confirms big commitment to support global COVID-19 relief efforts

Reinsurance giant Swiss Re Group has committed CHF5m (US$5.2 million) to support global COVID-19 relief efforts, particularly in developing countries.

The pledge has been made through the reinsurer’s non-profit grant foundation, the Swiss Re Foundation, which will distribute the funds to organisations tackling the current crisis.

The foundation will contribute CHF1 million (US$1.04 million) each to the International Committee of the Red Cross, which provides humanitarian aid in the world’s most vulnerable regions, and Médecins Sans Frontières (Doctors Without Borders), which assists local health institutions worldwide in providing patient support and training for medical staff.

North P&I Club expands reach of COVID-19 tracker

Global marine insurer North P&I Club has developed a new COVID-19 tracking tool. North has made the tool available as a shared resource to the International Group of P&I Clubs.

The tool was first released by North in February. It details the extent of the COVID-19 outbreak and the response measures that have been introduced in a single digital dashboard, including country- and port-specific advice for shipowners, charterers, operators and others, North said.
