LMH Health’s Therapy Services location in Baldwin City is temporarily closed for repairs after a car drove into the business next door earlier this week.
The clinic is in a strip of businesses at 820 Ames St. Photos show the vehicle drove through the doors of the American Family Insurance branch next door, which also resulted in structural damage to the clinic.
A social media post from the Baldwin City Police Department notes that officers responded to the incident around 2 p.m. Monday. The post confirms the vehicle accident resulted in damage to the building and the vehicle, but no injuries were reported.

The car ended up entirely inside the American Family Insurance branch located next to the LMH Health clinic.
In an email sent to the Journal-World Thursday afternoon, LMH spokesperson Amy Northrop said it’s fortunate that the accident didn’t result in any injuries. Northrop said personnel are currently evaluating the damage, but there hasn’t been a final determination yet regarding what type of repairs will be needed, nor how long they may take to complete.
In the meantime, Northrop said LMH has rescheduled patients to appointments at the Therapy Services location at Eudora Family Care. Northrop said LMH would update its website, post notices on social media and share information with patients directly via the hospital’s patient portal regarding the status of the clinic.
A representative with the business on the other side of American Family Insurance, Meridian Title Company, told the Journal-World in a phone call that the business remains open after suffering only minor damages.
A representative with American Family Insurance told the Journal-World in a phone call Friday morning that their office, too, is closed indefinitely for repairs. An entire new wall and electrical work are among the needed repairs. She said there’s no timeline yet for when that work may be complete.
American Family customers can contact the Lawrence office at 785-331-4353 for service. Additionally, customers can drop off their payments at Mid America Bank, which is located a few doors away on the business strip.
